Check engine light after plug change?

I just changed my spark plugs (what a PITA) and now my "Service Engine Soon" light is on. After the light came on, I found Cyl #7 coil wire disconnected, but connected it right back up. Could this be the cause? It has been shut off and restarted at least 6 times since, but that light is still on

Yes the wire off the coil probably caused the check engine light to come on. To clear the light you can pull a battery terminal off for a few minutes.

Will the light stop coming on after a certain number of "clean power-ons"?

The light should go after after 3 complete "drive cycles". That could take quite a few days or even weeks depending on how much and where you drive.
A drive cycle is a combination of different driving that the truck's PCM needs to see to make sure everything is working how it should. Requires some idling, some cruising at hwy speeds, some hard accelerations etc.
