99 expedition trans. issue

Thanks in advance for any help.
expedition was working fine, drops rear u-joint due to rusted out parts. Now trans. just loads up and will not move in drive. Low and reverse works. It moves and shifts fine in drive if you turn the overdrive off.Any ideas what got damaged by the drive shaft flopping around?

not sure if this is similar to what your truck is doing but here's a link and there is a comment not sure if that whats wrong or not, something about a "solenoid pack"

Please elaborate more. Did the u-joint drop while driving, backing up, or do you mean you took it out and changed all of them?

clarification

The vehicle was driving when it happened. I'm sure when the u-joint let go the driveshaft banged around pretty hard. I'm pretty sure that is what caused the problem. It showed up immediately after the driveshaft was repaired and we started to drive it again.
