Well I went to pickup the correct speedometer cable today from a company that specializes in Lincolns(don't ask me why they would stock a speedo cable for a Ford truck). The guy there had a 70 F150 parts truck and said I could go thru it for parts if I want.
Well, I opened the door and I noticed that it was stripped pretty good inside. But then I looked under the dash and saw a factory option A/C unit. I grabbed it up quick and he said I could have it, the compressor and bracket all for $100. All I need now is a condenser and the hoses. It is in great shape and fits the contour of the dash and doesn't stick out like some other units I have seen.
Needless to say I was very pleased with my purchase. Also got the driver-side rear running lite as well since mine is broken. He also gave me a great website for restoration parts for Ford trucks. www.dennis-carpenter.com
OK so I clicked on the dennis carpenter website because I have never looked at one of their catalogs. I got the Motorhaven website. Are they one and the same? Or is that just some clever diversion created by the FTE?
MotorHaven gets their restoration parts from Dennis Carpenter, it's all the same stuff. Links like that are changed automatically. If you don't like it, talk to the boss.
Does FTE offer dennis carpenter's full line? If it is all the same then I would rather support this site. But if d c has more stuff then I want to check it out.
We used to offer their full line. Frankly, we've been reducing the selection because people typically aren't grateful for the site and refer other companies with our bandwidth (ie, use my money to send someone elsewhere). I'm tired of dealing with it. What's really sad is if people would take 5 minutes to see what DC stuff we carry they would see that its 25% less than DC's price.
Most of the restoration items we carry now (sheet metal, bumpers, etc.) are not DC items.
The rear bumper MotorHaven (and all the others I've seen selling new, including you-know-who) are not the same as the original rear (non-step) bumper that came on the '67. Finding that bumper has become my life's mission.
Thanks Ken and also I'm sorry for the annoyannce people cause over the site. I'm sure most of them just need reminded like I did.
GolferSA, is the 67 bumper unique? What is different? I had an original one from a 66 and one from a 70 and it seems like they were the same but I never laid them side by side.
What I meant to say was the repro bumpers I'm seeing onliine do not appear to be the same as the OEM chrome bumper that came on the truck. I'm having difficulty finding the OEM bumper in the junkyards of Texas... they're either bent beyond repair, or were replaced with a step bumper somewhere along the line. There must be a boneyard here in Texas somewhere stacked high with day old OEM bumpers, discarded when the farmers and ranchers put on step bumpers

Actually rear bumpers were an option back then and most dealerships had a favorite supplier. I doubt if they took off many chrome bumpers to put on step bumpers, the trucks actually came from the factory without a bumper in most cases. Even if you find one that is bent or tweaked a good bumper shop can straighten and rechrome it for you. The last one I used actually came off a Bronco but the Bronco mounting brackets won't work without modifications.
