Need a replacement chassis for a 1966 f100 2wd short bed in Charlotte NC area. Thankful for any info as to what will interchange. Ben told that the 67-72 should work but do not know for sure. Thanks for any info, Gary
I'm no expert, but if you're going to swap it all over, I'd find a modern Crown Vic frame and bolt your body to it. I have heard that the bolt holes line up. Don't hold me to it my twin I-Beam frame is still in good shape, but I'd like to do a Dent front end swap for the disc brakes and power steering.
Maybe a senior member will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong on the Crown Vic swap...
Also, any tips on the dent swap for me would be appreciated.
The crown vic swap has many a write up with video on the internet and appears to be straight forward. Keep in mind that if you are needing a "new" frame to work from that the V.I.N. is on the frame not the warranty plate so keep your old frame numbers.
the twin I-beam started in 65 and was pretty much identical until at least 79. There are slight changes to the rear of the frame, but easily modified.
and personally I have no idea why anyone would want to swap a car chassis under a half ton pickup. Twin I-beam is a nice riding truck. When I need a soft ride, I put a couple of thousand pounds in the back
