Well since Im doing my IFS, I now have a 3" dropped axle in the garage, complete with semi-new everything that I dont need anymore. Im wondering what I should do with it, as with most of the other stuff Im pulling off. Im probably going to post some things on ebay, but If anyone needs something before I do that, let me know.
why did you go to the ifs ? i am at the stage where i need info and i am wondering if the dropped front end would be ok .but no one has been able to tell me how they handle, ride etc.can you help?thanks
I was trying to leave this post in the dust after I read the sticky posted by our moderator, but A question I can answer, I must answer.
Raymond Therrien: Well, I got my axle, and installed new kingpins, bushings, spring pins, and Tightened up my steering box. I still was struggling with slop in my steering, and a bit of wander. I looked at the spring perches, and the passenger side rear was cracked. I welded it together, and the weld was just not to my liking. I have read so much here in the forums about IFS, so I decided to look for a unit. The local "mopar only" guy had a beautiful unit, VERY clean, with the power booster, and hanging pedal for $300. I had to get it. I personally like the driveability of IFS, and the softness of the ride. My straight axle just seemed so rigid. I am in the process of putting this thing in (with help) and it is far more work than I imagined. I have had my truck in the garage for 4 months now, and Just finished straightening my frame. If you are into customizing your truck, I say you look into it. The guys here know whats going on with every question Ive ever had, and Ive come a long way on my first project. I will keep you guys posted.
