Rick, My wife has a 14. we have had great luck with it.
Excellent MPG. Reliable, fun to drive. I know there have been some recalls, we have just taken it in when they call but it seems ours didn't have the issues that were listed on the paperwork. Like I said it's been completely reliable.
My Parents bought a 16 and like theirs too.

We have a new '17 Titanium, had it for 3 months, love it so far! The 2.0 turbo is a blast.

This is GREAT guys!!

Our '16 SE has the 1.6 EcoBoost, plenty of power for us/my Wife....

So far only problem is the wind noise at highway speeds that there is a TSB for......

We've already got full set of Weathertech floor liners and window visors.....

I've ordered an aftermarket chrome molding that will go on the hatch door just above the plate.....

We love it so far as well....

Wife drives 2013 se with the 2.0 ecoboost, does not lack for power and averages 25+ mpg.

My wife just bought a '17 SE with 2.0/AWD about a week ago. It definitely is fun to drive.

My wife's '14 S 2.5 just rolled 40k miles. We get great gas mileage and have had no issues other than 1 annoying recall and one warranty electronic glitch. Probably will be in the market for tires in another 5k miles. Ford did a good job on this one. I'm definitely in the minority with the base S model and again with the 2.5 which I understand can be bought on the SE now.

we love ours(second one). when my wife saw the new style 13 when it came out she said that it was going to be her next car. sure enough in october 2012 she bought a new se model 2.0 with towing package(have 14" rising boat). put about 40k miles on it. noticed the tires were in need of replacement. before i could get to the tire shop we received a 2K rebate and 0% financing from ford. within a week we received a 1k bonus from our dealer. neither one said they could not be used in conjunction with each other. needless to say we went to the dealer and struck a deal on a 16 titanium 2.0 with tow package. so our joke is instead of buying new tires my wife just buys a new vehicle. currently she has an appointment tomorrow for rear shock replacement, recall issue(second shock replacement), but we both still love it.

wife just took our 16 to the dealer for noise in rear. the other rear shock was bad. ford is aware of the problem so if you hear a clunk/rattle noise coming from the rear that is probably the problem and will be under warranty. also found out the technical service bulletin about wind noise referred to in an earlier post is for noise coming from the mirrors. they will take off interior trim panel and install some insulation(foam) to reduce noise.

Why is it Ford has so many recalls. Maybe only minor still it takes time to go to the dealer etc. I want a car that gives me trouble free driving. I guess that's why imports are so popular. our 2016 AWD KIa EX has 29,000 trouble free miles. We would of bought an Excape but following this section & Fords in general made me rethink what we wanted. We have owned many Fords over the years. To be honest the 90s Rangers & our 73 Galaxie have been the only dependable Fords we have ever owned but not without recalls & issues from new. (73 Galaxie bought used)

I have a 2016 SE with the 1.6 Ecoboost. Power of such a tiny engine is amazing. The AWD gets around in the snow just like it's not there with the studded snow tires. Getting great mileage. No problems so far.

Kermmydog... I'm not a blind loyalist but the Toyota Tacoma had more recalls than the 2014 Escape... and the Tacoma has a religious disciple-like following unlike most other vehicles. I've been down on American cars but the sacred alter of Japanese cars is no longer exclusive. American cars are on par with Japanese cars in nearly all categories... excluding Chrysler (FIAT)... sorry about that... had to be clear. Having owned over 25 vehicles in the 26 years that I have been driving, I can tell you that American cars are a far cry from where they were 10 years ago. From even five years ago they actually are more innovative and attractive than many of the import offerings. Nice Galaxie 500... sweet...

Great post Scuddog, spouses 2013 has two recalls, minor, never any issues outside of me ignoring a battery, tried to give reps but in rep jail!

We started with a '13 SE with the 1.6 liter. Drove the heck out of it and before we ended up upside down we traded for our '16 SE with 2.0 liter. Love this thing. Only complaint is the brakes squeal like a pig. I took it back and the dealer looked at it, said everything was fine and that was it. Next time I take it in for an oil change, I think I will ask them if there is another brand of brake pads they can put on it. If I simply ask for new brakes they'll just put the same kind on and I'll essentially be paying to have the same problem. Daughter #1 just bought a used '13 with the 2.0. Aside from a noise from the ac (again, dealer says everything is as it should be), she loves it. The only thing I like better than our Escape is my 2016 F150 Lariat with 2.7 liter eco. American cars have never been so fun.

Old thread... reviving it a bit.... American cars are not perfect... European and Japanese cars are not perfect either.... but the stuff coming from the big "Three" these days is quite impressive. I'm doing everything in my powers to steer my wife towards the new Bronco coming out... she wants a Jeep or Expedition... God grant me a freakin' loan or a lottery ticket! She may be tooling around in the 2014 Escape 2.5S for another few years if things hold up. I will be flushing the brake fluid this month, replacing the rear shocks, front struts and front brake pads, rotation, oil change - this month - ALL DIY thanks to this great site. Love forums like this. I save thousand$!
