Carlene already told you all what Mrs Bubba and I are going to be doing -- Maybe some ATVing Carlene?
Too bad this state is so darned big that more of us can't get together. I'm hoping for a big turn out at the Turkey Rod Run at Daytona in November. We should have our chapter shirts by then. hint, hint, nudge, nudge.
Just got back from an interesting camping trip with Carlene and Steve. You got to watch those two. They take you out in the middle of the Ocala Naional Forest and see if they can get you lost, then they try to drown you by driving ATV's down a flooded firebreak about 2 feet wide and two feet deep. We had a great time!
You & your wife "Bob" missed out on the best part of our weekend. Steve & I were kind and took you to the mild parts of the forrest that we're familiar with. Sunday we went to some places where the water (MUD) was so deep we buried our bike. Even the handlebars were under (muddy) water. We had six bikes total and only two (4x4) made it through the big hole without having to be pushed out. Steve & I were up to our hips in muddy water when we had to get off to push, but when we got the bike to higher ground (lower water) it fired right up and we were on our way again. Man, did we have fun...... We finally made it to a pond that we could swim in so I jumped in t-shirt, jeans, boots and all. I figured it was the best way to get some of the mud off, plus it felt real good. We did some burgers & dogs and then hit the trails again.
Today we went for the milder, dry, ride before we had to head for home, but still had fun.
I'll tell ya, once we hit the West Palm traffic, we were ready to turn back and hit the woods again. I just love the peaceful life up there.
BTW - It was a pleasure meeting you and "Bob" and look forward to the next time. Ya know, you didn't mention to the guys here that your roughing it is was with a 2 room tent, an air mattress and a fan.
I think that the BBQ pork and ribs ranked up there pretty far as the best part of the camping trip. lol.
We did have a blast on the ATV's, but I'm not so sure how much fun it would be to sink the bike and then jump out into that snake infested leech pit with god knows what kind of sharp pointy sticks, rocks and holes under that murky water.
We'd like to come back again, if you'll have us, but ixnay on the swampay.
Let's not forget while we were roughing it in the two man tent you and Steve were all nice and cozy in your AIR-CONDITIONED travel trailer.
