I have a 2013 F350 CC Dually with the 6.2L Gas and 4.30 limited slip rear end which has just over 36k on the clock now. To date the 6.2L has performed flawlessly. It has plenty of power to tow my 34' 14k lb gooseneck horse trailer. I took a 1,550 mile trip from Louisiana to Tulsa Oklahoma pulling the above trailer - avg mpg for the entire trip was 8.9 mpg with 2/3 of the miles pulling the trailer - just pulling the trailer was 7.8 mpg; without the trailer was 13.0 mpg - all hand calculated - truck computer showed .4 mpg higher. I was pulling at the posted speed limits which was for the most part either 70 or 75 mph. Prior to this truck, I took this exact same trip with a 2006 F250 6.0 PSD with the same trailer yielded 12.7 avg mpg for the entire trip. So I'm very satisfied with the gas engine and don't regret not getting a diesel again - just too many issues with them and I don't pull often enough to justify the diesel. Yes the 4.30 gears would be better, but with the 6 speed transmission, it should not be problem with the 3.73 gears. I also have a 41' Jayco Toy Hauler, haven't weighed it yet, but estimate it at approx. 16k lbs with golf cart loaded which the truck handles well. Most of my towing has been in Louisiana and East Texas which is for the most part flat with only small hills, but the truck has handled it fine. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

I don't use manual mode but do enjoy the gear lock out feature. I use cruise a lot. When coming to an incline I will start locking out gears. Once it is deep in the hill and comfortable I will unlock gears for the down grades. In rolling hills I do lock out 6th most of the time

That is a good way to do it....I drive daily the same way... lock out 6th, 5th, & 4th while in town....unlock 4th for most back roads, 5th for highway....I don't think I've ever used 6th empty or towing.

My 2000 V10 had the manual tranny, 3.73 and towed good. My 2016 is the first automatic truck I have owned and has the 4.3. Being old school, it is taking time to get used to towing at the higher rpms as I could tow all day at 2500 rpms in the 2000. I have no complaints and have towed the 32' Jayflight mainly in the Great Lakes area, and the 10k dump trailer fully loaded with dirt. I would still have put the V10 in it if it was offered for the low end but the 6.2 does do the job. Easily will chirp the tires.

First off, Thank You!
Thanks to all the advice on this post because I have been searching for a "camper hauler" for a while to replace my 2012 F-150 and found a 2012 F-250 XLT, 6.2, 4x4, super cab with only 21,500 miles and has an ARE canopy already installed here in Oklahoma! No worries hauling the 2015 Keystone 27DBS now! Not crazy about the General HTS tires but we should be done with winter here soon and can run these tires all summer and get something better before next winter. Super happy and can't wait for our first trip!
