My 1986 F150 with the 300 inline 6 has got seemingly a very large lack of power. I picked up the truck a year and 3 months ago and did a dura spark II conversion as well as swaped in fuelinjected exhaust manifolds. The emissions control system has completely been removed. Aside from that there have been no further performance modifications. The truck is equiped with a NP-435 4 speed trans (door code A) and a New Process t-case, and a ford 8.8in rear axle 3.08 gears (door code 18). The truck seems to have plenty of power in 1st gear as one would hope with a ratio of 6.69:1 but when i put her into 2nd she is a turd! I have looked over ignition timing and that seems to be spot on. I am however not convinced that my choke is working properly or that I may be having some other kind of air/ fuel delivery problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What carb are you using the stock carb or one from a non-computer controlled truck say 80 300 six.
Now did this happen, one day like you flipped a switch or over time?
I would check that choke to make sure it is opening all the way.
Are you still running cats on the truck? Maybe they are plugged?
Easy to check drop the head pipe at the exh manifold and take for a test drive.

Ctubutis, I have not checked to see if the timing advances with rpm increase yet, I will however get to that monday or tuseday after I get my buddy's timing light. I know that my vacuum advance does work (or at least it actuates when the truck is running and releases when shut off).
Fuzzface2 I am not running the feed back carb I believe it is from an 83 or 84 ( I picked it up on ebay "rebuilt") The truck has been running like this since I got it going. When I got it it did not run, and immediately after getting it I did the DS2 swap with fuelinjected exhaust manifolds. The only exhaust i had was a y-pipe to 2 1/4" exhaust pipe with a 3" glass pack, untill 3 weeks ago I added a muffler. And for the choke... it had got stuck wide open once making for a difficult cold start at 4a.m. when I had to go out to plow.
Yeah someone had pm me and made a suggestion along those lines. I do have a new carb, I will be putting on this Thursday. It is aftermarket.... its typical application is a 300 i6 used in airport tugs. I am also considering a 2 barrel with a new intake, I know you can get adaptors, but from what I have read is that they dont make for much an improvement.
