This past weekend, it was 7* in my area. While I was working, I forgot to have some one plug my truck in. Long story short, I'm pretty sure I blew a freeze plug on the passenger side (right above the starter) and either the oil cooler is now leaking, or another freeze plug in that area. I looked under the oil cap, and of course it's milky. With that, I decided to go ahead and replace the passenger side freeze plug, and replace gaskets and I rings on the oil cooler. Also do a complete oil change and replace all the coolant. Is there anything else I need to check?
Im figuring it's the oil cooler because while it's running, I can see coolant dripping from the oil filter.
Will do. After removing the front tires, driver side leak looks to be coming from the area around the motor mount. I can see coolant following the seam between the oil pan and block. It's dry in front of the motor mount and wet after. Guess I really won't know anything until I pull the cooler.
^^^^ Good question. For the future, the block heater is the WRONG way to deal with this. If your coolant froze at +7F, it was too weak, even too weak for boil-over protection.

With all the cavatation issues etc you let your coolant be in such poor condition that it froze at7?!!
