Everyone has different tastes. I think it's way over priced for mirror caps, tow hooks, possibly a bigger rear tail gate emblem on the KR, and exhaust tip.
Me personally I don't care for it. My current truck that my wife is getting has it and I don't like it. The exhaust tip looks like a regular one at 41k miles but I'm not real big on flashy things either
Like Rusty said it's all about personal preference. I opted not to have for $1k. I got a KR and wanted the color matched bumpers from the 2 tone. I was paying for that and didn't want to pay to have it go back the other way.
As everyone says, it's a matter of taste. Frankly, I started out not wanting it at all, but the family lobbied for it. By the time I ordered my F450 KR, I decided I really do like the way it looks. And I preferred the tailgate treatment on the KR to the very large blue oval in the center.
Also, as WolfFox mentioned, I have the color matched bumpers on my 2014 KR F350 and they do show the ding and chips from road crap.

It also includes the running boards. That was a major selling point for me.
The big thing is the rims. They would be real money to do afterwards. The mirror caps, door handles, tow hooks, bed tie downs, and exhaust tip alone would not be worth the money in my opinion. Getting the factory bed liner wipes out the chrome tie downs. Since I ordered a dually, the rims do not change and I declined the package. However, I like the chrome exhaust tips. You just have to keep cleaning and shining.
I purchased a Magnetic SD and opted to trade the chrome package for the LED lights instead. Same money for the most part. I felt it was a better use of the $1000. You actually get a performance enhancement not just a cosmetic enhancement.
I absolutely hate looking at the exhaust tips though, they look like raw sheetmetal, no finish at all. So today I took a rattle can of high heat BBQ black paint to my exhaust tips. Looked pretty good and about 30 min later it started raining. Paint dried enough not to affect it, thank God.
As for the running boards go with the power step. Best running boards they have. nice and low, big and wide.
If you want the 20 inch wheels...then you are forced to get the chrome package. That was the reason I got it.
20" wheels are available without the chrome package, but they are the bright machine cast aluminum ones. And the cost of getting running boards without the chrome package is almost half the cost of just getting the chrome package. And the 20" chrome rims available with the chrome package are $300 less than the bright aluminum cast 20" rims.
When I order my King Ranch I plan to add the chrome package. I have the chrome package on my '09 and the bumpers show no wear. I would think, IMO that painted front bumpers, just like painted bumpers on my car would show chips and the bugs become much harder to remove on paint vs. chrome. Love the chrome tips and just think with the chrome grill it looks like the right combo. Everyone has different opinion which makes ordering fun.
