Not sure if anyone remembers, but I've been having trouble with the tranny for awhile now. I bought a scanner and have been waiting for the problem to come back so I could scan it.
The other day the tranny light started blinking and hard shifts came back. This time though it has a hard shift between 1-2 & 2-3 instead of just 1-2 like the last times.
Anyway, so I scanned it and pulled codes 65 & 74. I know that 74 applies to the brake on/off switch - I guess it was disconnected by the previous owner because you can shift into gear without pressing the brake. For some reason though my scanner won't give me the definition of code 65. If anyone can help with this I appreciate it very much! I want to get this problem tracked down soon! Thanks
on edit: I forgot to add. I've scanned the truck with two different types of scanners (both Auto Xray) and both of them received data saying that this truck has 10 cylinders!! What gives?

It does, you have the 8 cylinders in the engine and the two wheel cylinders.
Ok...bad joke. I have no idea. Were they even putting the V-10's in the 91's? I'd bet something was wrong w/ the scanner. I've seen some screwy codes come up if the scanner didn't have the right "chip" in it.
HAHA! No, the V10 came out in 1996-1997 or somewhere close to there. I hope it's not the scanner. This is supposed to be the next thing down from what the dealers have and as it costs $600 it should be!!
Code 65: Electrical charging system problem occured-voltage too high(over 17.5 volts), or Engine control system never went into closed loop fuel operation, or Transaxle problem-Overdrive cancel switch(OCS) was not cycled during Engine Run self test.
