FUEL PRESSURE??

Put an inline electric fuel pump on my 78 f-150, motor is a 400 and the carb is a 2 barrel motorcraft 2150 I believe. Anyone know what pressure to set the fuel pressure regulator at? Thanks a lot.

Hello, I would think around 5 -6 lbs should work..

I don't have the '78 shop manual. The '77 manual, for that engine, says that the static pressure for the mechanical pump should be 6.0 to 8.0 P.S.I. with temperatures "normalized", curb idle speed, in neutral. Volume flow should be a minimum of 1 pint in 20 seconds.

Shop Manuals aside....
A good rule of thumb based on my own experience:
-center hung float can handle 7psi max
-side hung float can handle 5.5psi max

6-8 PSI sounds good with a Motocraft (or Holly) carb. 9 psi may be OK but no reason to push it.

Edelbrock carbs need under 5 psi.
