Well after drooling over the grill shell 500 has. And wanting it. And my wife not letting me offer to buy it. I went and grabbed a grill shell I had deemed unusable. The driver corner was dented in about a half inch wish I would have taken before pics. And had several gauges. With it being cold and snow outside and bored out of my mind I started working it with my body hammers and dollies. And got to this point. I have some tight welding to do on some cracks. And a lot of polishing. This is what I have some far . Not to bad for killing time
After reshaping and some polishing. Think i did a ok job. No dings or gouging A close up of the corner after i took the dent out The grill so far lots more to go
I ordered a aluminum polish kit from eBay and got it today. I tried it out works great but some sanding scratches showed up I didn't see before polishing. So have to sand it with some fine sandpaper again. Tried taking pics but couldn't get good light for a picture my florescent light are just to dim when it is 22 degrees outside. So pics to come any suggestions or advice would be appreciated
Well did some more work on the grill .welded some cracks and went over it with a polish pad we use to polish the inside of stainless steel tanks after repairs are done. Got a lot of the imperfections out now ready to polish. Here is a few pics
The worst crack before welding Bad pic but same spot after welding before final smoothing Small crack Area of crack after weld and final smooth Grill shell ready for polish
Yeah I did remove the anodizing.it was a royal pita.I tried oven cleaner like the tech tips says to use. Tried paint removal jelly. Finally used the paint removal disk on my grinder and polished with a polishing pad we use at work for stainless steel. I've been out polishing it with my eBay aluminum polish kit. So far so good
