Time to buy
Its time to get another truck, my 1/2 ton just doesn't cut it. All I know is it's going to be a PSD shortbox extracab/crewcab 4X4. Is there any years of the PSD that are better than other years or any to avoid. I'm thinking later 90s. It will be the hunting/fishing/camping truck. The current truck sees about 6000 miles a year. Any thoughts on auto or 5 spd. Will the 5 spd hold up better? When did 4.10 gears stop being an option. A lift and bigger tires and a winch are a must. Should I look for a truck already set up the way I want it or go with my gut and get as bone stocker thinking it probably won't be as beet on. Thanks for any thoughts.

Go with the 5 speed, and if you insist on bigger tires, then insist on the .410 gears. I don't think there's much difference in the trucks from about 97 to present. Any one of them will make a great truck for what you want.
