I saw some pictures a fella posted on another forum where he took the driver's side seat out of his Ranger and then used a reciprocating saw to cut the part under the console off. He remove the console as well. Peeled the material up along with the foam, cut the bits off and then stretched the material down, trimmed it and attached it. It looked to be a fairly easy do and you'd end up with two matching buckets instead of that clunky extra wide part to the driver's side. Since I have a regular cab (almost no space behind the seats) I was thinking I could build a custom console from the floorboard up with a round cutout on the backside for a sub and mount the amp inside the console. Has anyone done this? Thinking about it? Any pictures if you have done this or something similar? I have to put a new stereo in Little Red anyway since it went underwater and what the heck, might as well make it a little nicer than it was.
I have also seen those mods in pictures, but I got seats from an eddie baurer (leather, electrics) and installed them for about $100. Just had to extend the seatbelt hookup to the floor. Actually did not use the leather as I had installed a set from an 01 explorer (driver elec) but wife wanted to be able to get the seat lower on passenger side thus the baurer set. I also got the consol out of the baurer and installed it. I had gotten one out of another but didnt have all the mounts.
I bought the elctric door panels from a roll over 97 and installed all of that, was not able to get total wire harness so no gem etc but did make the section to connect everything. Only problem cant get the elec door locks to work! Elec mirrors make it nicer to drive also.
Anyhow just all depends on how involved you want to get, you indicated truck had been submerged so the foam may be questionable as a result.
Yeah, Little Red was mostly underwater for about a week. A previous post shows a picture of my little guy trying his best to swim. I don't want to put a lot into repairs and upgrades since my truck is basically a work truck but I do want everything to work like it did before he tried his submarine imitation. Thought about doing the electric seat and window thing but that's wayyy beyond what I need for this truck. When I take the seat out I can evaluate the foam and see if I can keep it or if it needs replacing. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it cleaned up and no more river/mildew smell inside. I'll do more cleaning when I get the door panels off to replace the speakers. So glad I didn't have my tool box back on the truck when it got caught in the flood or I would have lost a ton in tools.
