PDI issue

looking for suggestions.

During PDI of my truck, they discovered the BLIS indicator (light) in the passenger mirror does not illuminate. The tech chased it to the light in the glass itself. They have a new mirror ordered.

Here is the issue: they don’t know if the new mirror will be in Friday.
I am scheduled to pick up the truck Saturday. I am driving 500 miles with the family to pick up the truck. We have to leave Sunday so the kids can go back to school Monday. My wife needs to be with me to sign because she is 1/2 owner.

Here are the options:
1. hope the mirror shows up and gets installed (best). salesman is working on it with service
2. Take the truck with the malfunctioning light and then take the truck to my closest dealer and have them replace the glass under warranty.
3. have the dealer pull the mirror from another truck on the lot and install it on mine (have not given the salesman this idea)
4. Figure out a way to have the documents signed without needing to have my family go with me to get the truck. This way there would be no rush to get back to town.
5. Put the family on a plane, and then I drive back home Monday?

What should I do?

Thanks

Are you sure your wife needs to sign too? She will likely need to sign the title, but that gets handed over when you get license (at least here in MO). When we purchased our last vehicle, they told us 'one signature to buy, two to sell.' When buying, only one has to sign to get both names on it, but both have to sell since it's in both names. Financing paperwork could be different though, not sure.

Another thought...have them FedEx the paperwork to you overnight, have your wife sign the necessary spots, then you sign them at the dealership. Should work...

This is a no brainer. Option 3. Unless they don't have another truck with that mirror.

And to think beyond this mirror issue you are going to have to use a local dealer if anything else needs some attention under warranty so why not go ahead and establish local relationship in your area and have them fix it. This was also if it reoccurs you are not having to deal with the dealership 500 miles away and the local dealer saying who did what. It is warranty. Just enjoy the truck, drive home at your own pace, and own the experience. Good luck!

we will see what happens tomorrow.
they have several trucks on the lot with that mirror.
i will be taking the truck regardless.
i only went to this dealer because it is owned by extended family.
I gave the “local” dealer the opportunity to be the selling dealer, but they could not come even remotely close to the deal I got.
i think it will all work out

I got the same deal. Hard to say no... plus it's a great excuse to get everyone together.

I bought my last vehicle while in Singapore. They sent the documents overnight for me to sign. If they can't pull a mirror on another truck just wait until the mirror is in, have them overnight the paperwork to let your wife sign, you carry the paperwork with you, verify it's fixed before you sign (could be something else wrong) and then you sign after verification.

If you know a lawyer have a temporary POA written up just for this occasion then you can sign for your wife on a one time occasion.

I agree with most everyone else. 2 if they won't do 3. But, they will likely do 3...

You could use a program like DocuSign, and the wife could sign her portion ahead of time.

From the dealer perspective, 3. I've had to swap parts a few times and service hates doing it, but "it's for the customer" works pretty well when going to general management to get things rolling. On the list or not, I'm impressed they caught that unless it comes up as an error message.

how did we survive all these years without blis?
i have even driven my f150 in the snow without bliss!
and survived.

Take the truck as is and fix it when life permits.
i understand it sucks to pick it up that way.
but man I think we're all over thinking this problem!
