My engine is a dog. Cant hold it at 65 in od, its a gutless wonder. I think it has 195 hp.
I am looking to buy a 302 from summit racing.
The 302 300hp or 350hp.
Will probabally go with the 300 so i dont ruin my tranny
Anyway the question is on the fuel injection. The stage 3 comes pretty much complete with carb. I do not want a carb for fuel mileage reasons. But not totally against it, it will give it that cool sound.
Or On the stage one , im assuming my current intake will not work? Would all i need to buy is a manifold and maybe injectors. And an ecu or get my tuned?....
You can have 300hp with the current 5.0.. it's basically the same motor anyway. But before I show you how to get there.. what axle gearing and tire size does the truck have? Ford made a hugh mistake with the gearing they installed in some of these trucks and owners often make that situation worse with oversized tires. These 5.0 trucks should have come with 4.10 gears minimum in my opinion and that means it needs even more gear if the tires are oversized.
And gears are even more important if you modify the motor to get more HP because believe it or not it will be even weaker than stock below 2000rpm. So first you need gears to get your hwy cruising rpm above 2k and then you can add engine performance and not suffer even worse driveability.
Yeah that truck needs 4.10 gears, then replace the complete exhaust system and manifolds with whatever you like and headers.
Yea thats what ive been finding out. Will try to do a full exhaust next week. Having a hard time finding 4.10 rears. I have 4wd. Have found a rear axle though
Many of the HD trucks(F250) came with 4.10 gears and while the rear axle won't work for you the pumpkin from the front D44HD will bolt right in on your F150. Also note that the correct mate for 4.10 rear gears is a 4.09 front gears, and also note you will need a new carrier for that 4.09 gear set.. that is the part that goes inside the pumpkin that the ring gear gets bolted to and also the spider gears go inside of.
