windsor head exchange

I just took heads off my87 bronco with 351w and Im wondering if anyone knows what year the 351 stopped making adjustable rockers. Im going to the junkyard and Id like to find a set of 351w heads with the adjustable rockers that way I dont have to convert the heads over. If so is there any problems in doing so. Id like to get a set of non egr so it wont have the crossover pipe in the back of the heads. Will there be a problem with piston to valve clearence? Maybe 302 heads will work or would there be a problem in deck heighth for the intake

302 heads would work but as a general rule don't get'em, there are some that would work great but doubt their gonna be easily found in the junkyard. This is not what you asked but maybe there is an explorer in the junkyard that happens to have a 5.0 and you can get the heads off (gt-40p), just a thought, didn't I just say stay away from the 302, well except in that case. Look for 69 to mid 70 351 head seems like these are what everyone wants stock wise. If they do have the smog then you can buy plugs for a couple of dollars made just for plugging that hole

The last year for rocker studs, I believe, was '82. The only time you need to worry about piston to valve clearance (in this case) is with larger valves or a larger lift cam. 302 heads will work but you will need to drill out the head bolt holes to the proper size.
