did my driver side manifold studs yesterday, all good. today I'm doing the passenger. I got all out/ broken off but 1, and it is on the bottom on cylinder 3. it is stripped enough where I can't get a socket on it, but it is in a spot where I can't hammer a smaller size on it.
I tried an air hammer, no dice. tried an impact, just spins on the nut. not sure what else to do because a grinder won't fit in there, I can't reach it with a welder to weld a better nut on it, and I'm ready to break it

I know she struggled with this and almost threw in the towel but she managed to persevere and get it done. See if she has any tips listed that might help you out.
Sounds like you are having 1000000% better luck than any of us ever had. You need to look at that how-to and thank your lucky stars you got off so easy you lucky *******!!!!!
Is that stud the one down by the cross member, if I recall that is about the tightest spot for access.
Not even a chance of hitting with the MIG at a crazy angle for a blind weld? At least then you could have a set of flats on the new nut to attempt a bite on.
If nothing else works you could break it off, how much worse would it be than the other pre-broken studs you are removing?
Use a chisel to try and snap it off, then weld a nut to whatever is left over? If all the rest are off, can you use the manifold as leverage against it to snap it off?

I thought about that, but it's in there good and I don't want to take a chance cracking the manifold.
I did finally get the y pipe off after cutting one of the bolts. still cheaper than paying someone.
I found out that there is enough room to get the welder in there, it's just really tight and awkward, and frankly I am way too pissed off at it today. it's a good thing my 6 year old was there to keep me calm!
I ended up putting my tools away and teaching the little one to weld lol

thanks, that's the one thread I didn't read. I have a busy with a dremel and extension that he said I could use. I also thought about using oxy-acetylene and just burning that baby right out ! it's probably a good thing I don't have one here or I may have jumped straight to that!
once I can get the manifold off I'm good. I finally got the welder dialed in on those studs to get a good burn, so u should be good, although there are 7 on this side that will need to be removed, and possibly 8 depending on how this last stud goes
Just finished mine in the last month or so Use lots of penetrating oil and patience I had to drill several out and had to cut drill bits shorter to get holes started for easy outs Do you use a stud removal tool? On the passenger side of mine it worked on all but one on the very back which broke off Good luck

I haven't touched a drill yet. I have access to a mig welder, so I went straight to that since it seems that's where most people end up going. once I got to removing studs yesterday, I had 6 out in under an hour, I just can't get this last one to break on the passenger side so I can get the pieces out!
