Bad FICM?
I own a cts2 and I watch the voltage through the entire time I am running the truck and have seen it as low as 46 while driving but almost every time I start it, it stays at 47-48.
My question, how are they getting 32?? They said they did not take the ficm out of the truck to test it.
Anyway do need a ficm? If so, Any recommendations? I know ficmrepair.com, what service level from there would you guys recommend from them? Also bulletproofdiesel is selling theirs for $495. Which one to go with? The shop quoted me $840 installed for a bullet proof diesel one, sounds like a rip off to me seeing other options available.
If you do the research you'll eventually find that the FICM diagnostics that show FICM output voltage less than 48v is caused by the FICM Power Supply board failing - if you have the desire you can repair the FICM yourself:
If motor is >= 2004 then you probably have a four pin FICM
1 - watch a youtube video on FICM Power Supply
2 - order a replacement FICM Power Supply from one of multiple sources, I recommend Made In USA
3 - remove the FICM, be gentle with the connections
4 - Separate the FICM case and swap out the power supply board
5 - re-install the FICM
* No soldering required.

To diagnose: Connect a voltage meter to the FICM Power Output, at immediate key on you will see the voltage, if less than 46v ~ 48v then the FICM Power Supply board is on its way out. It is possible to diagnose without removing the FICM, just have to find the right wire to test.
Good luck.
