No power on start up

I have a 97 psd and when I first start it up in the mornings or after it sits 3 or 4 hrs it starts easy but when you try to drive it bogs and won't go above 2000 rpm. If I let it idle for 15 to 20 minutes first it runs just fine. Does anyone know what this might be?

sounds like the exhuast back pressure device staying closed. How cold is it usually outside when you are cranking it up?

golly, i got the same problem, too. if she doesn't warm up 10+ minutes i can push accelerator to floor and the truck doesn't move an inch (in 60 degree weather) rpms barely increase and i get grumpy. it takes until 5-10 minutes of town driving before she's ready to get on the highway. please help if you can. thanks
