so I recently installed a new Edge Insight on my 1996 7.3 and everything works good except for the fact that the truck shuts down under hard driving. I updated the edge and that didnt help, then i set my edge evolution back to stock and nothing made a difference. I can be driving down the road and get on it to pass and the engine dies like you shut the key off and i put the truck in neutral shut the key off and start it again and take off. edge says theres no problem with the unit when i sent it in and that its my truck but as soon as i take it off it never does it. Untill i re install it. I find nothing in common for all the times its done it. Iam wondering what other monitor or digital gauges are out there to replace it.
well i have had good luck with my edge Evolution I always run on tow but its just the insight that is causing problems with my truck. are there some other OBD2 digital monitors out there that competitors to the edge insight that will work on my truck?

ts performance does make a product. I believe it is called the informant. It actually can be used to switch tunes on their 6pos chip as well if desired.
You should look that direction maybe.
The dashboss used to be well liked by the 6.0L guys. I don't know how well it will work with a 7.3.
DP tuner also makes the infinity which I think is similar. Both are spendy though. I would check out the torque pro app for android with a bluetooth-obdII adapter to rule out your OBD port somehow being the culprit before dropping that kind of money.
I'm kinda of curious of this I was really thinking about putting out the cash for a edge cs monitor only as I like the all in one function I currently have my brothers bully dog monitor on my truck and it works pretty good really like it just thought the edge cs had a few more options on it I'll only be using it for monitoring purposes
I sure wish i could figure this out i really like the insight. I have had the insight off the truck for a week now and it hasn't died like that at all. I might try plugging it back in and seeing what it does again I guess. the one thing i did notice that was consistent every time it dies was that it is in third gear with the torque converter locked up and Iam given er the diesel. no other times would it die like that. I put it on my dads 06 dodge and it worked great but I dont know of another obs 7.3 around to test it on.
Have another rig around you can try it on? Might not cause the same problem if it's not another 7.3 but it might help to either rule out or prove if it's the unit.
so i plan on replacing my PCM because iam having some other problems with it plus what the edge is doing. my question now is, can I buy a PCM with the code for a 1997 truck and install it and run it on my 1996? arnt the 1997 trucks rated at 225 HP and the 1996 at 215HP?
