warranty void ?

I have the extended ford warranty on my 99 psd. I was wondering if putting a chip in the truck voids the warranty? What would be the best chip or programmer to use for the money and actual best results. Looking for gains in the towing area mostly.

If the chip causes damage then it will not be covered under warranty. You can always challenge it if Ford is making up some BS about the chip causing an unrelated problem. As they say, if you play you pay.

warranty void ?

This is takin from http://www.dieselconcepts.com/morein...ID=56&q=17#FAQ

Q: Will adding a performance module void my factory warranty?
A: ABSOLUTELY NOT, These modules can not and will not affect the factory warranty unless the factory specifically states that adding these items will do so.Plus your covered by the magnuson-moss act. In all of the hundreds of performance modules we have sold we have never had a warranty issue come up that was not eventually disproven.

Ford DOES specifically state that adding aftermarket parts, such as chips etc, will void the warranty if damage is done. SSM # 10389 states: "Some aftermarket products may cause severe engine and/or transmission damage. There are various manufacturers offering devices to increase turbocharger boost, exhaust brakes to increase stopping/hauling capacity or other such devices to increase the power/torque of the 7.3L DIT. Severe powertrain damage may result from use of these aftermarket products, which will not be covered by the Ford warranty."

Magnuson-Moss is misquoted and misused all the time. Take the time to read this link as to what it actually says. When you add a chip to your computer you are altering the vehicle, not reparing the vehicle.

warranty void ?

Thanks for the info john. I'd been wondering what the actual substance was of the that act. If i was ford i don't think i would repair\replace parts that were destroyed because of aftermarket chips. they've got enough problems with trying to fix the 6.0.....sk
