So im swaping my 77 F250 camper special 2 wheel drive over to a 85 4X4 frame, the tanks on the 85 have electric fuel pumps on them but the engine is a carburated 460, can i bypass the fuel pumps and jut put a mechanical pump on the block? and is there anything else that i might run into that would cause me problems?
As long as the 460 has the spot for a mechanical fuel pump that is not a problem. I do not believe using earlier sending units is an option, as I believe the sending unit holes are larger on the electric fuel pump type tanks. Bypassing the fuel pumps would be the best bet. But this does raise another question. Will the sending units in the 85 send the right signal for the fuel gauge to work?
Also, the rad support on the 70's trucks bolts right next to the radiator, which leave 6 or more inches of rad support hanging out on each side. I would simple measure your mounting locations.
