95 f250 problems

95 f250 problems

so I'm kinda a rookie, replaced alternator put new one in and I plugged in all connections to it and hooked battery back up and I put serpentine belt back on but its not tight by anymeans right now I just wanted to see if the battery gauge fixed, but I started truck and with old alternator itd start off reading at like 16then drive for a bit use windows and radio itd drop to 12 and almost stall. now I start it and its at 9v while running and I know that's not good. but I cant figure out why and I'm tired of taking to shops I just haven't had too much time to fix myself with a deployment 3 months from now and a wedding next month. any tips would greatly be appreciated. thanks

Telling us some more about the truck will help. Tighten that belt too. If it's not tight the pulley isn't turning as fast as it should, thus low volts. Get a pry bar under it and pry it as much as you can, then tighten the two mounting bolts. After it's tight you should get about 1/2" deflection in the belt when you press down on it in the middle of two pulleys.

theres like a mounting plate infront the intake manifold, its almost impossible to screw in the two for the bottom and the one for the alternator. also the screw broke inside the alternator so now I have to get a drill and drill it out. its the 95 f250 460bigblock 218xxx

You mean this bracket? It shouldn't come off the intake manifold. Also, I don't think that hole in the alternator is blind, so you may be able to just thread the broken part out with a pick or chisel or vise grips.
