Drove it home and the next day same thing happens...at this point I love the truck and this issue is damn irritating and to top it off the stock motorcraft battery had a acid leak. Looked like the previous owner had the bright idea of prying apart the battery clamp with a flat head screwdriver causing a puncture.

So I purchased a new battery and last hope was a good old can or CRC throttle body cleaner. Cleaned the very dirty TB and did the battery relearn process. Truck now feels like it has less than 100 miles, the 5.0 Coyote engine is amazing when its operating correctly.

All in all out $167 for a new battery and TB cleaner, everything else was covered by warranty.
I'm glad that fixed your issue for your truck. But I hope for your sake that the can of throttle body cleaner said it was safe for coated throttle bodies. Because if not you'll be replacing that throttle body in the very near future. Ford throttle bodies have a very sensitive clear coating on them that helps prevent carbon build up. It still happens, but at a much much slower pace. It also supposedly helps with the air/fuel mixtures or so I've been told. Not sure how, but that's what I've been told. Either way even the throttle body cleaner that are "safe" for coated throttle bodies will over time with repeated use can and will break down the coating the Ford uses. That's why I always clean mine with just a clean dry lint free towel and very soft bristled tooth brush to remove the carbon build up on my throttle bodies on my trucks.

74,XXX miles now, just got back from a trip towing a car and it averaged 14 mpg. I used Napa Echlin pour in the tank style fuel injector cleaner. It said to mix it in at least 12 gallons of fuel. Since I had a full 36 gallon tank I poured in two bottles of cleaner, be careful, you need a skinny funnel to get it past the overflow vents. It smoothed out the idle very nicely. Still have the original spark plugs in it.

Thank you!

In my opinion its a must, once I took it off I saw how much gunk had accumulated on the intake manifold side of the butterfly valve. Looks brand new now, just have to go to ford and buy a new TB gasket because I am getting a slight whistling from there on acceleration and well ford does recommend to replace the gasket every time you take off the TB.

CRC has been known to have a good TB cleaner. I trust them. Either way I have never seen a vehicle with that much gunk build up on the TB and I am certain a plain old rag wasn't going to do the trick. I don't plan on cleaning the TB any time in the near future again, so I should be good for now and in the event it fails, the truck still has warranty.

I have 111 thousand on mine. Just got it a month ago. It has a tick to it at idle. But runs and drives amazing. Has anyone been able to find figure out what causes the tick? It is a constant tick and I'm fairly certain it isn't the injectors.

2011 XLT 4x4 scab, bought new 9/30/2011. Now has 114k miles, engine maintenance consisted of plugs and boots at 92k, repl serpentine belt and idlers about 85k.

10k oil drain interval since new, uses 1 quart between changes. It has "the tick"...I only hear it next to a wall when my window is down. Awesome engine-I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

I was starting to think I was getting a lot of miles on my truck since it's the DD and all. Sitting at ~25k.

Not to turn this into an mpg thread, but how are you averaging 13.9 being lifted and on 35"s. All highway, no recalibrate, tuner? I get 11 on my FX2 with 275x65x18's (this is all in town), but I drive "spirited"

I have just under 40k miles on my truck to answer the thread. had rotors turned and need to replace brakes, had to replace battery - other than that - flawless and love it

No recalibration done. I think the mpg would actually show higher if it was accurate.

Update: Just completed my 60k mile service checkup this past weekend. The truck had just a hair over 48k when I bought it, so that makes 12,000 miles in just over 5 months. That might be a personal record for me
