I have been checking for the Window Sticker since I was given my VIN a couple weeks ago. Today I was very excited to see my truck in all it's glory show up on paper.
Then my heart dropped. I looked at the color and Bronze Fire was ordered rather than Black.
I know this was a mix up on the dealer since I wanted to see a Bronze Fire before I ordered. When my wife and saw a F150 in Bronze Fire we said absolutely not. Instead I wanted Black. I left my print out of all the options I wanted with my sales guys since there was some confusion over the the pricing and he wanted to check with his ordering manager. He emailed me the next day stating they had all the options I wanted and the pricing figured out, all I needed to do was confirm Black on Black.
I have emailed my salesman tonight asking him to call me tomorrow. I assume that since the the VIN has been assigned and sticker generated it is too late to have the color changed. If this is correct it looks like I will be waiting a few more months for my truck.
Order date 9/5/16
Vin 10/21/16
Sticker 11/16/16
ETA 12/15/16
That is awful. I picked the Bronze Fire because I liked how it changed colors in different lighting. But if it's not for you, then it's not for you. The bright side is that there are a lot more Black trucks out there and you maybe able to find something just like what you ordered. Good luck.
man that sux, dont let them screw you into what you dont want! they will try to! even if they offer to repaint it i would say no cas it will never be like factory! or tell them the only way your wife would except the color is if they dropped the price by $5,000 or something lol play them!
Yeah truck color is a very personal choice. I doubt that I could find what I want since I ordered a very specific configuration and since I am spending so much on a truck I would rather wait longer than settle for something that is not exactly what I want.
Didnt you get a print out? VOC or DORA? You should have been able to see what was ordered. The dealer has to list a color when ordered & it should have been listed on the paper work given to you. Did you change colors after the VIN was assigned? Just trying to get the full details. Anyway, if it is not the color you want, place an order for another one. You do not have to buy it. There are many showing up on lots now also, maybe look around for what you wanted, chances are you will find it (black on black is a popular color choice) with similar features.

To be honest this is the first time I have ever ordered a new vehicle. I have not heard of VOC or DORA. I have bought 3 new cars from this salesman over the last couple years (off the lot). We went back and forth over the option over a couple days but color was confirmed before I agreed to order. Looking back I should have asked for something confirming the order options.
I will be placing a new order. I am not worried about pressure from my dealer as I have a good relationship with them. I am just a little bummed at having to start the wait over again. I ordered a Lariet with all the tow options, carpet delete, all the camera's and some other items.
While I have seen some very nice optioned trucks out on lots nothing comes close to what I ordered and I would rather wait and get the truck exactly like I want.
Also this isn't meant to bash the dealer. I know this was a honest mistake and I have full faith they will work with me.
If this was indeed the dealer mistake they should be able to re-order the truck with a priority 01 which will but the truck on a fast track to replace it for you. In fact, I would insist on it due to the way Ford loses orders for months at a time. Good Luck!
My salesman called me first thing this morning. He apologized and is putting a new order in today. He is also going to send me a copy of the submitted build sheet so I can confirm everything.
The only color truck my wife said absolutely not 30 years ago was Red. We have owned 3 F250 SD Long wheel base diesels over the last 30 years - in Red. First one we bought was supposed to be Grey but dealer sold it out from under us and replaced it with Red.
We custom ordered for first time with 2017 and got the Ingot Silver. Bottom line they all work the same but if you are ordering to get what you want it should be right.

funny you say that "priority 01" when i ordered my f 450 sept 20th my dealer said it was a priority 19 and should be picked up quick as he has allocation for 1 super duty in Oct. At the beginning of oct ford gave him allocation but not my truck ford just randomly picked an XLT for him dealer called the sales rep and asked what was up with that rep said he was coming in town the next day and will see what was going on. Dealer said to stop by in the next day and will have an answer for me when i went in the rep was there and remembered me from my 2015 transit ordeal rep called in a favor to his boss the next day my truck went form Priority 19 to 01 2 days later i had a vin and built date of nov 29. Still have not seen window sticker yet so will wait and see!!!
I went down to the dealer this evening and we put the new order in. I confirmed the color and options. Since today is Thursday already and Thanksgiving is next week it may not get picked up till the week after.
Ok, let me clear this up for some confused people. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). I spoke extensively to several dealers about this. When you order a truck...YOU are not ordering the truck (even if you put a deposit down). The dealer is ordering a truck with one of their allocations. When it shows up...they call you, then you go in and sign paperwork saying you agree to buy the truck in front of you. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT IF YOU DON'T WANT IT. Even if you signed something in advance, most states have a law that you can return the truck within 3 days or something similar...which means, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT IF YOU DON'T WANT IT. I have seen several posts where people have gotten a truck that wasn't what they wanted or didn't have the options they wanted. $70k+ is a ridiculous price for a truck. When I order, it will have every option I want, or I will absolutely not accept it.
That said...read the ****ing sheet when they order it. If you think you will forget to check for something, make a checklist, before you go to the dealer, of what you want...not just "Ford" options, but your expectations of what the truck will do for you. Then look at the order form/build sheet and check off your expectations.
My dealer actually told me to do this...so they were sure they had what i wanted.
^^^^^ I have posted many times that buyers should print out the Order Guide and read it, mark it, read it again, mark it up some more, then read it another time before going to place the order. Sit down with the sales person and input the order to the computer and put a priority 99 on the order. That keeps the order in house, then take the printout home and compare it once again to the marked up order guide. This gives time to find any conflicts, omissions or changes you might want to make. Then go back to the dealer and finalize the order and change the priority. Once the dealer places the order have them give you a copy of the DORA when it comes back, usually in 2-3 days, sometimes a little longer. ( Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement.) Compare that to your original order. Your dealer should be doing all of that. Your job is to make sure they do their job right. After all, it is your time and angst over a major purchase and a couple of days up front can save 14-16 weeks extra time waiting for the right vehicle to come in.!
Following this procedure will sometimes amaze the salesperson that your knowledge and attention to detail may be better than theirs.
