Hi!
Have read a lot forums, but still not know what to do, please help me as i dont know even if i can run my truck without making serious damage to it!
So:
first my cruise control quit
then truck went in regen cycle, i did not noticed if it was ended, i drove all the time,
then drive to clean dpf message , i drove further about 200 miles,
and noticed power loss, and then Reduced engine power and wrench showed up, i drove about 100 miles more because had to come home.
Next day i read codes and they were: 1335, 0404, 2452, 2463.
then i cleared them all and only one comed up again 2463. and tried many times, it stays on. I know it is DPF clogged. But i donot have manual regen possibility. So maybe now i need to drop off dpf and try to clean it? I read in forums about that turbo may be involved in it, what i have to check?
Thanks for any input.
P.S I do not have any ford service here in Europe, so please help me to do something who are done something by Yourselves and got successful.
Ford F250 2008 year 6.4 150000 miles
No, we don't have any in our country, I managed do all things so far for my truck myself... As I found from forums, code 0404 means that I need to change EGR valve?
so the clogged DPF problem...I had that and was able to unclog it enough to get ride of the error by pouring a few onces of opti-lube fuel additive in the secondary fuel filter (on the engine) and running the engine for 2 minutes. I did this 3 or 4 times and the the DPF cleared out enough to get rid of the code.
BUT, it was still clogged compared to as new.
removing these things are a PIA. my truck was 6 years old with 87K miles and you need losts of penetrating lube, a propane toruch, and small impact gun, electric is fine.
and you still are going to have a hard time seperating the exhuast pipes enought to drop the DPF.
If you get it out, which I doubt you will with out cutting the old pipes and rewelding new pipes on to the cut portions......
to clean these is a shell game, there are so called DPF cleaners out there but few are really equiped to do the cleaning correctly.
you can soak the DPF in .1 percent citric acid for 6 hours and that will remove quite a bit of the gunk. but it still will not be officially cleaned using the solvent and bake process.
Im not going to tell you to remove the DPF and put a straight pipe on it becuase there are reports of folks getting big fines for doing so.
another option is to find a used DPF with less miles, clean that one, and cut your old one off.
AND yes, you defintely do not want to drive the truck with a clogged DPF.
since you are now at risk of blowing a head gasket....make sure you de-guas bottle as a new pressure cap. the 18PSI of a new cap vs the 5PSI of an old cap will make a difference.
to keep it clean, use a fuel additive and change your oil often. dont buy into the 5K or 10K oil intervals.
Hi Speakerfritz, thank You a lot for Your response, I just want to clear some things:
1) can I drop off DPF and start my truck and drive it (just dpf, nothing else)
2) I can remove dpf and insert just pipe instead of it, because here in my country I do not have officers who check emossions on road, we do it once a year on special place to check all things in vechicle, so just curios what to do with two sensors?
3) how often I have to change oil on my truck now? 3,4,5 thousands miles?
4) I do not have optilube cleaner here available maybe just take any cleaner which is told to clean injectors, and fuel system?
Thanks a lot once more time,
Richard, Europe

no. if the truck goes into regen mode without a a dpf, you would basically have a flame thrower.

follow the severe duty schedule, and check very frequently for increases in oil level which would be due to fuel contamination.
