Starting to look at building a regular cab XLT . Question the XL regular cab has a mini console option.
The XLT doesn't have his option wondering if I can see some pics to see if the center seat will be able to be removed and install a mini console in its place
I personally hate the mini consol. We use them in a bunch of our work trucks. I prefer the standard flip down one that you can store stuff in and use as an armrest.
We have done a dozen installs on 2011 - 16 XL trucks. We have two 17s on order. In general, we order the rear factory bracket for the Factory console. Install it for a factory look. Then use some self tapping screws from the inside of the console into this bracket. This secures the rear. For the front, there was a bracket that holds the front seat that we leave after the seat is removed. It sits very close to the floor. We stack a couple spacers (lumber, plastic deck) to get the height needed and secure this to the bracket. Then self tap from above inside the console to the spacers. Very solid. From the outside, it looks all factory.
Here are a couple of examples. You can easily get factory paint to change a tan plasitic to dark gray for then factory match.
