I was driving yesterday and I went to hit the brakes and I could feel a grinding that also pulses. The pulse changes from fast at high speeds to slow at slow speeds. It jerks the truck all round , and when I stop at a light the brakes themselves will seize and I can let off the brake and not move, then I have to hit the gas and get up to a little over 1k Rpm to get it to move and there's a loud pop when it starts moving. Anyone ever had this problem? I pulled the tire off and the hub spins just fine , the caliper pistons still move freely when I checked them , pads are good and I replaced all the clips today. This is only happening with the front driver side tire. I also checked the lines and I don't see any leaks , the master cylinder is still full from a month or so ago when I put new Calipers on. No abs light or anything coming on.sommeone please help , cause it's getting to the point where imma take it somewhere, but I'd rather not have to give away my right nut and first born child as payment.
I'm not a mechanic, but if it started after you put new calipers on, my guess is something got messed up due to the installation . I'd just take it to a brake shop to have someone give it a good look over. Shouldn't cost much.
Everything you're saying tells me you have bad pads and stuck calipers. I know you said you checked them but, put the truck in the air, put it in neutral, make sure your wheels are blocked, hit the brakes, get out and see if you can spin the tires. If one of them is locked up then you know where to look. It could be as simple as your have a rubber line that's collapsing on the inside acting as a check valve.
Did you replace the caliper bracket when you replaced caliper? I had one that was rusted and wouldn't let pads slide. Also replace brake hose on that wheel.
I would replace rubber hose going to that caliper. sometimes. the crud inside of fluid can become a BALL and move up and down that hose.. becoming a check valve. pressure one way and not the other.. but not being perfect. will leak back in a few seconds.
this type of problem started around the mid 1970's and still does happen.
main cause .. not replacing brake fluid every few years. but local weather does make a difference.
but remanufactured parts can go bad in days or months. Same with new.
