My passenger side nerf bars broke off. The mounts are still solidly attached to the truck. I checked the drivers side, and only 1 of the 3 mounting points on the bar are still solidly connected so I just pulled and it came off too.... all of the body side mounts are still solid. I have a "vertically challenged" wife and need to get these back on asap. Anyone know how to attach the bars to the mounts? Looks like whatever bolts were there are broken, or sheared off.. I just can't figure out how to get to the back side of the bolts.
On my truck the original nut inserts in the bars rusted out but the mounts were still solid. I just slid the bars an inch or so forward so i had solid metal to attach to and ran a few self tappers through the mounts into the bars. Held up fine for a couple years now
Not sure what bars you have, but... I have the oval ones, I had one of the threaded inserts corrode and fall out. I cut a piece of like 16 gauge steel about 1.5" square, hammered it to the right contour to fit inside the tube. Drilled a hole in it, welded a nut to it, then fished it to the right spot to run a bolt up through the bracket. Nice and solid, won't pull out.
