Good progress on the brakes and the clean up of the body! Even though it showed more rust in the cab. I think you did the right thing getting it blasted!
Thanks for the updates!
Regards,
Chris

We'll you never know what life brings. My progress has been all but halted due to my wife's Colorectal Cancer treatments. So I farmed out the installation of driver side firewall, both front floor panels, inner and outer rear cab corners, front cab corners, & both rockers. They are also going to "fix" the roof. Right after I got the cab to the body shop I ended up with a bout of Accute Pancreas. Three days in the hospital and I'm out but homey doesn't get to eat or drink anything fun

Master installed third time's a charm.

Residual check valves installed too.

I agree Chris. Without the cab being blasted I'd have been in the dark on all the cab issues.

Forgot. The body shop thinks they can find a different 56 roof. So far they've sent me to look at 2. Both were as bad or worse than mine. They may have found another but haven't called me to go look at it yet. The roof repair is going to be an expensive endeavor but I really don't want to install a fiberglass one.

I hope your wife is going to be ok, I've been through the cancer deal with my wife and it was a difficult thing to get through. Luckily she is fine now.

Got a little accomplished yesterday. Cleaned, primed and painted the original bench seat frame. Not sure how long I should let this rattle can rustoleum dry before I try my hand at installing the seat covers.

Angry

Well wouldn't you know it. My seat foam from Mid Fifty is too short!!! So I'm working with them to get a solution.

Look'n good BJ. That stinks that your foam is the wrong size. As I have read in other threads, quality control does not seem to be a top priority for a lot of companies. Even though they may work with you getting it corrected, it's a pain in the butt Time is valuable. I notice that even more as I get older.

What are you using for a seat cover? Looks like the original under the foam. Good luck and keep plugging away.

The y block with ram horns looks great! I love the fact that your garage is almost as messy as mine and not a yuppie garage! I don't understand how or if people really do any work in a yuppie garage that's nicer than my wife's kitchen. Looking 👍

I bought a used seat cover on eBay.

Seat back with cover on.

Closer view of the seat cover.

The stuff on the seat is burlap.

Burlap on top of seat bottom.

Kevin, I spent 30 plus years inspecting maintenance shops for the military and Federal Service. It always amazed me when I saw a super clean and organized shop. I can rarely walk from one side to the other without tripping over something.

The seat back foam I got from MidFifty last year was too short width wise. I showed them a picture and they took it back. To save time and money I used some foam my upholsterer had.

I found a roof! The body shop nor I were happy with how the "fixing" the roof was going. Soo $200 and 4 hours round trip and I now have a solid 56 roof. Only issue is it was from a farm truck (presumably a grain truck) and it has holes for running lights. I was so excited I drove it straight to the body shop without taking pictures. I'll go by Monday and snap a couple.
