1987 f250 460 is the truck. Im showing 14+ volts with a multimeter on the battery. The gauge has stopped working. Pulled the + battery cable off truck kept runnung and when I put it back the gauge began working but has quit again. Any ideas? What Wire feeds the gauge?
I've had my gauge stuck (for years) I would rap on the cluster and it would jump loose and go to normal. -charge indicator light never came on-
It finally pi$$ed me off enough that I bought another cluster from Ebay for $35.
If you have a ring terminal and an insulated female spade you don't really need the regulator plug.
but it is a clean way to do the conversion and cheaper than buying a new regulator plug and A/C clutch connector which doubles as the 'S' connector.
Other than that, you need a fused charge cable, a thin washer with 15mm ID and a way to tap the adjuster ear 3/8-16
Looks like the large case 130 amp 3g is cheaper where I work than the small case. Does it matter? Large case $123.99 vs 173.99 for small. Before my discount of course
"large case" is 148mm diameter 130A -with two holes-
"small case" is 135mm diameter 95A -with four holes-
David posted pictures of both (side mount) just the other day.
There is also wide (8.25") mounting and narrow (7") mounting.
460s and Sixes take wide. Windsor's take narrow.
