WIFI is reported to be flaky by those who have tried it. BT or wired is best.

I bought the Bluetooth one from the link on the beginning of this thread. It works fine. One thing that caught me off guard was that after I installed the license key it set my FORScan to wifi and left me wondering why I couldn't connect like I did before I got the license. Once I switched it back to Bluetooth it worked fine.

Have any canadians had success modifying their drls? I'd like to have mine off and ideally have my turn signals as my drls.

Added an EGR bug guard, Smittybilt M1 fender flairs, front levelers to put 33x12.5 Toyo Open Country tires all around on 20" rims, Weathertech floors, window tint, a Ford tailgate assist (slick hidden unit vs the DeeZee), and the Beamtech H13 LED bulbs someone here said were great (and they are). I've trolled the site a few times and managed to find some useful info including those LED bulbs to swap out for the stock halogens. Then I heard about FORScan and after digging through a few pages of overwhelming info I decided to go ahead and join up with y'all.

I'm most concerned with getting familiar with this ReGen cycle and system status. As it sits with no ForScan changes, how do I know if/when a cycle has started? Is there an idiot light on the screen to indicate it's in progress? I can tell by the DEF gauge that at least one cycle has happened since I bought the truck. I was told that there are clues, such as a decrease in MPGs, a little less throttle response or performance, and an increase EGTs (duh). But I don't recall ever seeing anything pop up to let me know it had started, was in progress, or finished. Seems odd as I was also told it was not advisable to shut the truck down before a ReGen was completed.

Those with more knowledge on the subject please chime in, I'd be grateful. If you know of a specific thread and would add a link to it for me, again I'd be super grateful. Yes I know about the search feature and you also know there is a lot of info on the topic. I would like some help to whittle the info down to better threads I can fully read at leisure.

I appreciate all of the great info and hard work you have made available to us. I look forward to some advice and help and many hours of searching the site for whatever pops into my head!

There are some threads here that cover this but essentially you can use Forscan to enable the Diesel Particulate Filter screen to show you the filter percentage. It will show up under the Truck menu and you can tell when a Regen is happening if the percentage is going down. That's if the smell doesn't clue you in first!

dont use the “asbuilt” for these changes. Use the module itself in FORSCAN. The regen checkbox is the second or 3rd option in the IPC. The % option is further down.

To do the auto regen checkbox you do not make any hex changes. You do what's called plain English changes. This means you go into the IPC module in Forscan. Not the IPC As Built module. When you do there is a real menu with drop down menu changes that you select what you want then click write. You do the same in the PCM module which is shown on page 249 of this thread. Again, no hex changes there but a real menu where you make a selection. Go to page 249 and start reading. This is where it was first posted on the method. I did mine shortly after with success.

There are two changes necessary to make the auto regen check box work. The first is in the IPC. Once you turn on the check box in the IPC it will appear but you can't uncheck it yet. The second you do is in the PCM. There is where you select option three in the manual regen pop up menu. Once you've written both changes the check box will appear and will be functional.

At this point you can turn Auto Regen off and wait for the display to notify you "Do Regen Soon" or such, then switch back to Auto and it will regen within a few miles. I only did this once for testing and it was fine. Since I have left it in Auto and have never noticed a regen when in progress.. seamless.

Everything ExtremeDuty said is correct. I'd add that in order to get the DPF% screen, you will need tomodify the as-built IPC module. To get the auto regen checkbox, do the plain english edits like he said. Also - regens (DPF) and DEF have nothing to do with each other. Totally different systems, so using up DEF has nothing to do with the DPF or regen status. Good luck!

Thanks to advice here, we have used Forscan with satisfaction on a 2018 SD, 2008 P71 CVPI, and a 2004 SD. We just bought a 1997 F-350 7.3psd and it has an OBD port under the glove box.

In the OBS forum I've seen that no OBS trucks have OBD2 except for 1997 California spec gassers. Ours is from Illinois, so must be OBD1. Will Forscan work on our truck?

Does anyone know if it's possible to add the oil temperature to the vehicle info screen like the diesels have?

I'm talking about for the XLT 4" screen.

Cannot add digits to the gauges with 4" screen. Found that out when I asked the same question on my XLT.

Diesels don't have that feature , although it would be nice . I use my CTS2 to monitor oil temp .

Later ….

Has anyone had any luck disabling all headlights and using park/turn only as drl? No matter what combination I seem to try i cannot disable the lower set of headlights. They are always on regardless if I turn on park/signal/or fog lights. Only set i have off right now are the top set of lights.

I have originally halogen with LED beamtechs installed if that makes a lick of difference.

Would really like all headlights disabled for drls and only have the turns/parks or worst case fogs enabled for drls.

So i feel like this may be a head scratcher for you guys... please bare with me as i have not the first clue about forscan but i figured this would be a good place to ask my question. I have a 2019 superduty with factory LEDs. I just switched to the LED Morimoto XB headlights and they have a "Bugatti" style start up sequence (when you unlock the doors, remote start, put the truck in drive in auto headlight mode, go from off to parking lights ) where the drls come on and each individual projector (there are 4 per headlight) flash 1, 2, 3, 4 - 4, 3, 2, 1. Then they fade off. Well, first and foremost i have confirmed there is no connection issue because i ended up soldering the wires for the DRL's on the headlight harness, but whenever i unlock the truck, whether it be from the key fob or the door handle its not providing enough power to the headlights to do the startup sequence on both lights. The passenger side light is doing it every time, but the driver side only will do the sequence if i remote start the truck (because it sends full power) or if I unlock the truck ( sequence will not work at first) reset the lights by turning them on and off, push the push to start button then put the light position in either parking light mode, or auto mode and they will do the sequence when i put the truck in drive. With all that out of the way, is there any kind of value that i could change using forscan to provide more power, im assuming less ohms to the headlights when unlocking the truck with the keyfob or door handle to be able to make the start up sequence work? At first i thought it was the headlight being faulty, but now that i can replicate it any time i want i know its something to do with the bcm.

Oh and one more thing thats weird. If i push the unlock button (knowing the sequence wont work) and then try to remote start it, it wont work on remote start until i "reset" the headlights by getting in the truck and shutting it off then by turning the ignition on and then turn the light switch back on and back off. If i dont stay in that cycle they wont work properly. So really my only way of ensuring they work right is by whenever i get ready to turn the truck off, turn the light switch from auto to off, get out, lock the truck, and then when i return to the truck my only option is to remote start it and everything functions like it should when i unlock it with the key fob and i get back in the truck because the ignition is on and at full power since the truck is running.
