OK, gave it a try.... Loaded ver 3.0 to a USB drive, plugged it into the truck and started the engine. After about 3 min read "Updating System Software..." where it did read the time and climate control temp settings. About five to ten minutes later got a message that the initial update was completed, my display would reset, and I should turn the ignition off and on again. Did so, but found the Sync "about" still said it had ver. 2.2. A couple of minutes later the screen again read "Updating System Software..." and I fiddled around connecting to the home WiFi and doing other things while the update ran. After about a total of 20 minutes it again said that the update was complete. This time after shutting the car off and back on again it did say I now had Sync3 ver. 3.0.

Things seem to still work ok. The display is now white lettering on a black background. I think I like it better the old way. Don't see how to change it though. Only weird things I've run into is that I can now display the turbo gauge, even though mine is a 6.2 gas with no turbo. I don't think I had that option before. Also my tire pressures only display one front and one rear pressure, other two tire pressures are just dashed lines. Maybe that'll change after I drive it awhile. I had used Forscan to lower the TPS settings a few weeks ago, and it was displaying the proper settings before the update to ver. 3.0.

Haven't had time to see what else is different, but will in the coming days. Thanks!

Edited to add: Went back out to the truck after researching how to alter the display settings, started it up, and found the display was back to how it was before - black on a light blue background. Yeah!
Tire pressures are still wonky, but I'll drive it tomorrow.....

 

Erik, TPMS should reset after driving.

 

Installed V3 today. Randomly when starting the truck it goes to various sources and I have to switch back to my Sirius channels. Everything else seems to work fine.

My truck is idling in the driveway now updating to version 2.2, but I did try this on my 16 Taurus running version 2.2 and it worked, the nav keyboard did not black out when I got over 5 miles per hour and I could type while driving. This is a REALLY helpful one!

 

Hey, one thing I've noticed on a 2017 F150 versus the Superduty is the F150 still has the rolling odometer. Anyone seen any way to enable that on the Superduty? I know it's a small thing, but I like it better.

I just installed 3.0. I put the USB stick in before my commute. 30 minutes later it said to remove the stick and the update will appear after a power cycle. When I got home, I turned truck off and back on and the update was done.

Also tried The Forscan navigation while driving with 3.0 as mentioned above and sure enough the keyboard is active when driving.

 

I can confirm it works with Sync v3.0

 

Is it random how long the update takes? I just formatted and put V3 on my USB stick but don't want to be trapped in the garage for 30+ minutes...

 

Mine took 3-4 minutes after the stick was plugged in to proclaim that it was upgrading. About 20 minutes later it said that the stick could be removed and the upgrades would be implemented the next time the truck was started. I removed the stick and shut the key off for a couple of minutes. Upon restart the only difference I could see was that the map said that it was reloading and the info screen said "Version 3.0.” The map version is blank, apparently the maps are upgrading, too. ???

I waited another 15-20 minutes and concluded that it had to be using wifi to download the maps - my phone wasn't connected to it - so I shut it down, locked it up, and went in the house. I'll check it in a couple of hours - or when my patience runs out...

 

Thanks Lewis. Perhaps I should wait until the AM. Don't want to make any mistakes. Keep me posted on how yours goes.

The update is done and the maps are loaded. I use the GT graphics, and was getting tired of the low definition and "old-ness" of the display, particularly the splash screen, but it seems much improved! I didn't spend a lot of time trying things out, but what I saw looked just fine.

 

One thing I noticed when making the change below is that the 911 Assist option will not work and the icon for it won't even display so if this is a game-changer for anyone then don't do this mod
