The Ford GT theme is more refined, different font & icons, option under settings to turn screen off, and every day people are reporting new positive things like the following:
"Something I noticed with v3.0 is you no longer have to set CarPlay to enable and then shut off the system and restart for CarPlay to become active. Just enable CarPlay and in a couple of seconds it activates."
"In addition to the GT Theme being polished up, I noticed that the font color is now white in the Spotify app so you can actually read the song thats playing. Before I had to always run it in night mode in order to read it or go to the home screen.
The 2 mins I spent playing around it appears the overall UI is more refined, smooth and responsive. AA definitely is more responsive as well as others have stated. Overall, I think it's going to be a solid update! "

Things seem to still work ok. The display is now white lettering on a black background. I think I like it better the old way. Don't see how to change it though. Only weird things I've run into is that I can now display the turbo gauge, even though mine is a 6.2 gas with no turbo. I don't think I had that option before. Also my tire pressures only display one front and one rear pressure, other two tire pressures are just dashed lines. Maybe that'll change after I drive it awhile. I had used Forscan to lower the TPS settings a few weeks ago, and it was displaying the proper settings before the update to ver. 3.0.
Haven't had time to see what else is different, but will in the coming days. Thanks!
Edited to add: Went back out to the truck after researching how to alter the display settings, started it up, and found the display was back to how it was before - black on a light blue background. Yeah!
Tire pressures are still wonky, but I'll drive it tomorrow.....

quote from LIVNITUP
"So I just entered the following in APIM in Sync 3 v3.0 and it DOES allow viewing of text messages and entering NAV destination while in motion AND Sirius Travel Link is still present and working
APIM 7D0-02-01 5753 xxxx xxxx
This did not work on Sync 3 v2.0 but I never tested it on Sync 3 v2.2 so if anyone is on v2.2 and wants to test it may work on that version also. If you test it please also post whether Sirius Travel Link still works also"
My truck is idling in the driveway now updating to version 2.2, but I did try this on my 16 Taurus running version 2.2 and it worked, the nav keyboard did not black out when I got over 5 miles per hour and I could type while driving. This is a REALLY helpful one!

I just installed 3.0. I put the USB stick in before my commute. 30 minutes later it said to remove the stick and the update will appear after a power cycle. When I got home, I turned truck off and back on and the update was done.
Also tried The Forscan navigation while driving with 3.0 as mentioned above and sure enough the keyboard is active when driving.

Mine took 3-4 minutes after the stick was plugged in to proclaim that it was upgrading. About 20 minutes later it said that the stick could be removed and the upgrades would be implemented the next time the truck was started. I removed the stick and shut the key off for a couple of minutes. Upon restart the only difference I could see was that the map said that it was reloading and the info screen said "Version 3.0.” The map version is blank, apparently the maps are upgrading, too. ???
I waited another 15-20 minutes and concluded that it had to be using wifi to download the maps - my phone wasn't connected to it - so I shut it down, locked it up, and went in the house. I'll check it in a couple of hours - or when my patience runs out...

One thing I noticed when making the change below is that the 911 Assist option will not work and the icon for it won't even display so if this is a game-changer for anyone then don't do this mod
7D0-02-01 5753 xxxx xxxx - Allows NAV in motion on Sync 3 v2.2/v3.0, viewing text messages & Sirius Travel Link still works
