This is just an FYI thread for those of you needing new brake or fuel line tubing. Basically, I recommend going with someone besides Inline Tube. Here's why....
I ordered their pre-bent brake line kit in stainless steel as well as their brake hose kit in braided stainless. The parts arrived in short order and looked good. However, when I tried to install the left rear tube it wouldn't fit as the bends weren't right. It took me probably 30 minutes to massage all of the bends to get it to fit correctly from the wheel cylinder to the tee or banjo where it connects. But, when I tried to connect it to that banjo it wouldn't fit. It turns out that the original banjos take a 7/16" fitting on the left, but Inline Tube's banjo was set up for a 3/8" fitting. So, the 7/16" fitting on the tube wouldn't fit - as shown here:
Then I tried to install the right rear brake tube, and here's what I found. Note that the line is 2" too long and doesn't come close to going into the two clips. And that took me another 90 minutes to resolve by tweaking each and every bend.
Well, today I talked with Dan at Inline Tube. They've sent me a replacement LR tube. But, when I asked why neither of the tubes I've tried to use fit anywhere close to where they should, he said that they have problems getting things to fit Fords. In fact, he said they basically are there for GM vehicles, not Fords.
So, my suggestion is that you give Inline Tube a miss when you are looking for parts for your Ford.
Your experience on the LR line is exactly the same as mine. And your problem was known in June, 5 months ago. And yet they are still selling the same, incorrect, parts.
Its MUCH easier to bend than steel lines and it will never rust out and fail. You do have to cut it to the correct length and flare the ends though. It might not look as pretty as the pre-bent stuff but its easy to work with and you'll never have to worry about it rusting.
Rowdy - I'll check that out when I get ready for the rest of the plumbing.
I got the replacement LR tube in from Inline. It has the smaller, and incorrect, fitting on the inside end to match the incorrect banjo.
Here's the new one vs the one I massaged to get to fit. You can see how it hits the wheel cylinder at the wrong angle - so much so that the fitting won't screw in. I'll have to massage this one as well.
The local parts stores carry that copper nickel line now in universal lengths. Use it as is, or buy it too long and cut and flare it yourself. It fishes through the frame almost like electrical wire, it's so easy to bend. I like it also.
I used a adapter in the tee fitting in at the rearend. The banjo from the parts store will have the 3/8-24 on one side, the larger on the other. But they make an adapter the store carries that will bring it down to the standard 3/8-24 that the 3/16 line uses. Or save your old nut and re-flare the line.
