The dealer never even got the VIN, as of yesterday he hadn't received it. He came into work today and there it was.
Now I'm in a pickle, too busy at work to go get it, all I can do is fantasize about it.
not to mention I still have all kinds of accessories to take off my 08 (5th wheel rails, air bags, H&S etc…). Looks like the H&S is staying on it, don't have time to re-install the dpf. Oh well.
so for those of you that don't have your VIN yet, that doesn't mean it's not built.
What is your VIN if you dont mind sharing? Im curious what Ford ETIS and Chat would say if I checked that VIN right now. I check my VIN daily since I got it 3 weeks ago and till today nothing new.
Man I'd find the time to replace the dpf and set the emissions back to stock. I don't think the dealership can legally sell it if the emissions equipment has been disabled and that cost for replacement could come back on you.

Sharp looking truck
Brett
yeah the dealer and I talked about it, the truck is an 08 Lariat cc with an 8' box. He has a tuned 2014 and understands all about that. I'm giving him the dpf , he's going to do all the work on it to get it back to stock prior to putting it on the lot.
Congrats! I look forward to hearing your comparison to the 6.4L since that's what I will be trading in for a 6.7L eventually.
i'm very interested to see how it pulls my 43' toy hauler. My 08 pulled it effortlessly, I am very impressed with how powerful that 6.4 is when tuned. It launches very well and basically muscles the trailer. The truck is very stable while pulling too, even with a hard crosswind.
Of course, the 17 is miles ahead of the 08 in the looks and technology department, plus the 6.7 is far more reliable than the 6.4.
The 6.4 never let me down, never had to have the motor even looked at, but we all know what can happen to a 6.4 eventually.
I'm certainly going to miss the 08, it's been a great truck.

That's the main reason I'm wanting to trade mine (plus the fuel economy increase will be nice). I've only got 72k on it, but will likely have about 90k when I'm ready (able to afford) to trade in a couple years. I just hope I'm not on borrowed time and she holds out till then. I do a lot of short trips, and I know that's not good on her.

is the truck tuned? If so, short trips aren't much of a concern.
I guess my standards are lower than others, I've not heard too many positive comments from 6.4 owners, but I love it, it's been great and has been very reliable. The truck itself is, to me, incredible. But I also know I'm lucky, it hasn't had the cab off. That would take the positive thoughts away in a hurry.
this is killing me, I'm 30 minutes from the dealer, but I have to wait until tomorrow. I'm not being very productive at work right now.
So according to ETIS your truck was built on 10-27 and Ford Chat said its been delivered. Where do you live? You got your truck fast after the build date.

No, mine isn't tuned. I've thought about it, but have decided against it. The only issue I've had (knock on wood) is the radiator. It was replaced under warranty at about 26k miles. It pulls like a freight train and will pass anything but a gas station. I love it, just want the goodies of a new truck, the 6.7L, and the smoother ride of the '17s.

I live in Walton, KY (Near Cincinnati), which is very close to Louisville. The dealer is in Lawrenceburg, IN, which is even closer.

I felt the same way before my truck was deleted and tuned. It pulled anything I could put behind it with ease. But I read too many horror stories about stock 6.4's, so I did what I said I wouldn't do and I'm glad I did. The thing feels like it's on steroids. Fuel mileage went way up too.
but, like you, my radiator is starting to leak, and it needs all new tires. Plus, at 125k miles, I'm well out of warranty and I'm not willing to keep rolling the dice with the 6.4.
the timing couldn't have been better, right when the 2017's came out. Love it.
