I know that I have a Saginaw PS Pump. The steering is "intermittently" reverting to manual steering, ripping my arms off. at will.
Full fluid and no visible leaks. New Redhead Steering Gear, system bled..
I heard some whining and grinding so I did the screwdriver to ear stethoscope and the bearings are hollering. Question is...when I look up a PS Pump for an 84 F150 302.....I get this.
Clearly.... not a Saginaw. Looks Corporate.
My question is....What is the stock PS pump for a 84 F150 302 4X4 ? I'm not so keen on all that plastic and wondering if I should rebuild my pump.
Perhaps he has the world famous Cardone 20-6244 Saginaw Conversion pump? If so, I would rebuild it, or find a Saginaw pump that fits the horseshoe mount on the front...
There would be a whole slough of people on this site that would gladly trade you a brand new pump just to get their hands on one of those horseshoe mounts...

The obsolete Cardone 20-6244 reman has a custom shaft that is longer in order to make up for the 'horseshoe' and a smaller diameter so the regular C2 pulley will fit over it.
So, no... anther Saginaw will not fit.
This has been well documented in previous threads.
It's easy to look for the adapter or mic the shaft to tell.
There are a bunch of tutorials showing disassembly and inspection of the Saginaw steering pump.
A rebuild kit is only $14 and will work just the same in the Cardone pump.
What do you mean by "ripping your arms off"
Do you mean it wants to "turn by it's self" either to the right, left, or want to go straight when you want to turn?
is it 4x4?
If it is 4x4, when the knuckle U-joints rust up, they don't like to rotate "like they are supposed to" and you get the violent "steering wheel spin"
Jack up both sides of the front end, T-Case in 2 Hi, Lock both hubs, cut the wheel to either right turn or left turn, and then rotate the tires by hand for a couple complete rotations.
You may find the tires "lock up" cause the u-joint won't let it rotate.
That can be the "arm ripping" cause.....
