95 Ranger Shaking on Acceleration

This literally happened over night. My 95 Ranger, 3.0, automatic, 200,000 miles, starts shaking when I accelerate from a complete stop. Once I get going it's fine. When I lightly press the gas it shake and when I really press the gas it revs high and barely moves like it's stuck in gear. Any ideas?

My '96 recently did something similar. Ends up the bolts mounting the carrier bearing on my drive shaft loosened up and fell out.

I first thought it was driveshaft related, but that does not explain the high rpm and not moving. That seems to indicate something broke in the transmission or torque converter. Does it do the same in reverse as well as forward? Have you looked at trans dipstick to see if metal particles are present, or better yet drain the pan and see what you find?
