Just RTV. Im pretty sure Ill get it right this time. On the bright side my son and I can have the front clip off and the manifold off in no time. Goes back together quick too.
I've always used the end seals, learned to trim the end taps at a angle so the seal lays flat and use rtv only on the bottom to hold the seal in place.
Using rtv on both sides of the seal pretty much guarantees the seal will spit out
Use the "right stuff "gasket maker....slime with your finger the surfaces like wipe it thin. Then a big bead...nothing works like it if done correctly. I have to do mine on my 59.
Im sucking oil into the intake..
I may end up doing it again..I have to check it out tomorrow. I suspect it's leaking again. I'll let ya know. If I have to do it again I'm trying another approach. Permatex and/or end gaskets....Gotta work on the valve covers too. So it is possible to blow the rtv out with pressure under the manifold?

You all know how many times I was down this path with mine. Three different intakes and end gaskets used and not used. The last intake, after milling for perfectly smooth went on with the cork end gaskets. After dry fitting the intake there was a gap of 0.125". The cork gasket when gently compressed in my micrometer measured 0.130". Didn't want thick bead of sealant so used the gasket and the Right Stuff.
Being now a certified whiz at putting these things on quickly now this one went in place instantly. The only place the end gasket wanted to squeeze out was up in front of the distributor. Back end was great so just used my finger to keep it from moving while torquing down. Did put some on both sides but the bottom was done first and allowed to sit for several hours to cure. Top was spread by my finger tip. Trimmed also.

You shouldn't have crankcase pressure if you have a properly working PCV system. If you do have excessive pressure you have major other issues like bad rings..
Thanks. I tightened up my valve covers today. I'll look at it closer tomorrow and determine if the manifold is in fact leaking. I do still need to run a hose from the pcv valve to the carb.
