I finally fixed it

Im so happy, after 8 months of my truck missing and studdering, its finally fixed. Heres what happened, a while back, i thought i put these so called good NGK spark plugs in. About 6 months later, my truck started spuddering etc, i changed wires, cap/rotor, 02 sensor, coil. I never thought it was the plugs cause i just changed them. So this weekend i decided to change the plugs, now she purrs like a kitten.

Like I always say about spark plugs, you can't expect much from a part that cost's 2 bucks. I've seen plugs go bad within weeks....much less months. Change plugs often !

NGK plugs dont work well in Domestic vehicle engines , Ford engines run the best using the Motorcraft spark plugs .

Ford definately does better on Motorcrafts. I put in Bosch, and Splitfire's just to check them out then put Motorcrafts in and yes you can tell the difference. It was a much "cleaner, smoother" running engine.

I only run NGKs in my snowmobiles which have two cycle engines in them, which run well. I am running champions in my truck right now and havnt had a problem.

I finally fixed it

About a year and a half ago, I bought a '94 van with a 4.9 6 cyl from the original owner with 68K miles.

I drove it and for a year, and it ran fine. Was going to Fla and thought I'd replace plugs, wires, cap, etc, so I asked the former owner when he last did the above. The answer, Never!

At 72K, I had the above replaced, and sure enough, they were all original parts. The plug wires even had the mfg date on them. The plug electrodes were worn all the way to the porcelain with about a 1/4" gap!

So, in retrospect, sometimes the parts do last longer than you would expect. By the way, fuel milage didn't increase at all after tune-up, still 14 mpg.
