I put new arms and repop visers on my 56. The things keep dropping when I drive it. Any ideas on tightening them up to stay put? The interior is stock appearing.
If they are swinging down from the roof mount, the spring tension on the arm has weakened over the years. I had similar problem on my Spirit. I took the mount down from the roof and put the arm securely in a vise with the spring sticking up. You should see a washer on top of the spring that is held in place by a flat spot on the end of the arm. Now take the appropriate size "C" clip and snap one on the arm under the washer, compressing the spring, increasing the tension on the arm. Re-install the visor and if it still swings down, remove and add another "C" clip.
It sounds like he is saying the visor is dropping Ed. The spring trick would keep the arm from freely rotating.
Take the visor off the arm and place it on a solid bench, put a piece of wood or metal on top of the visor where it slides on the rod then hit the wood/metal with a hammer to change the diameter of the tub that slides on the rod. Do a little at a time so you don't crush it to the point you can't get it back on the rod. Number one don't lube anything on the visor or mount.
