I'm suddenly very torn on whether or Line X over or under the bed bolts. I just went out and looked at my current truck's bed bolts and they look like crap.

I mean, why do I want eight of these ugly things in my truck bed? I look at the trucks with the bed bolts sprayed over and think they look really nice. And with a lifetime warranty if they ever are uncovered in some way Line X will fix it no questions asked. So I ask myself again, why do I want to look at eight ugly bed bolts in the back of my truck?

I had that same thinking so I had all but the bed to frame bolts removed. Bed to frame were left in and sprayed over. I don't see myself ever having a reason to remove them, at least not anytime soon. If I do, the bedliner isn't that hard to remove and then get re-sprayed. I personally think the bed looks way nicer being all black.

The only reason I can see on ours to remove the bed would be to replace it if it get crunched.

I agree. If the bed gets crunched, the bed will be replaced anyway.

My installer didn't want to remove the bolts. I actually like the looks better with them sprayed. And if for any reason I have to remove the bed, I'll just get a new truck!

You obviously use your truck. The bolts stick up and the top gets worn. It would do the same to the Line X if it were on the bolts. At least the new style bolts would be easier to get the socket on if they had to come out even when sprayed. Why not spot them with a rattle can in semi gloss black a couple of times a year. Drill the right size hole in a piece of 1/8" plexi for a resist and keep it next to the Armour All. It is a truck, after all.

I think the bed bolts should be left in and sprayed over. Not only do they weather, there is some isolation between them and the aluminum that should be left alone, and, if they are removed and then torqued down on top of a coating, years down the road they may loosen or bond to the coating making it just as hard to deal with as if they were covered.

I also have to say, I really like the bedrug product. It deserves consideration and is less expensive. I pressure wash it clean whenever the mood strikes and it still looks new after 2 years.

Agreed on both points. I have the factory spray in and the bolts are covered, very pleased with the look. Good to hear on the bedrug, I'm thinking of putting one in under my tonneau, then punching holes for the gooseneck. I had one three trucks ago and loved it, especially the way it keeps dust down and out with the lid closed on trips...seals right up. Awesome.

If the cab is ever damaged the bed has to be removed to do a proper respray. The clear coat especially cannot be applied with the bed in place.

Got my bed sprayed with Line-X today. Looks great! Texas Truck and Trailer did an outstanding job.

Having owned both LineX and the Ford factory liner, LineX is superior and comes with a lifetime nationwide warranty. I wouldn't make the mistake of doing a factory liner again. Here is a great video to help show you why.

Just picked up my running boards from Linex and had the conversation with the installer/owner (franchise). He will do them either way. He has seen where people use the bed sliding things in and out and the linex will pop off the bolt and leave a jagged edge since the material will not stick as well to the galvanized bolt head. I also asked him to never seize the bolts when he put them back in case the box ever had to come off for any reason.
