God has truely blessed me on this one. I left work which is a 40 minute drive on expressway to get home. When I was around the corner from my house this happened to my truck:
Transfer case separated from the transmission. I thought that this may be a result of my rearend accident a couple of weeks ago. The repair shop told me that it is unlilely but could be possible. The precision universal joint seized up and cause my transfer case to rattle loose. I still think it was accident related.
That seems a little excessive to have been caused by a rear ending, but hey, if you can get his insurance to cover it as it happened from the accident that'd be nice.
You were right they determined that this was not cause by being rear ended. it cost me $754 to get fixed. the transfer case nor the transmission was damaged which was a blessing. they were bolted back together with no problem and refilled the liquids.
however the it was determined that the precision universal joint froze up and caused enough rumbling to actually break the transfer case away from the transmission. to have the universal replace and balanced and the rear shafts reworked and all that was $754. just to update the community.
