My 90 Bronco with a 5.8l windsor started with the check engine light. I got code 33 and 41. Code 33 being EGR opening not detected and 41 HEGO lean. I replaced the EGR valve and have the same trouble. I also noticed no vacuum to the line that goes into the EGR valve. What would my best plan of attack be to
a) replace egr vacuum solenoid
b) repalce the egr sensor
c) something else??? Please help.

Read this thread a few times until you understand what it says.
Then get a Haynes manual and read the description of the systems so you understand how they work and what the EEC actually monitors. Then use a vacuum gauge and a multimeter to diagnose each component until you find the fault. Remember that the EGR needs engine vacuum coming thru the "coffee can" controlled by the EVR before it can work, so a tiny crack in a vac line can set an EGR code. Just because you recognize the name of a particular part in a code definition, that doesn't mean that there's ANYTHING wrong with that part.
Well, I have vacuum to the "coffee can" and everywhere else however, I do not have vacuum at the EGR valve. I replaced the EGR on the advise of a "mechanic" who said if that was the code it is most likely that as "Fords are famous for those going bad). Also its a 1990 Bronco sorry about the mistake.
I'd prefer a Chiltons. They tend to have more pages - so you'll be able to keep your campfire going longer when you break down.
The factory manuals are so much better, though Haynes sometimes explains things better for beginners. Chiltons tend to be poor edits/reprints of the factory manuals.
