351Mto400 Build Help
Everyone is free to do what they think is best, however I will close with a quote taken directly from the Melling site:
"High volume pumps can be a big advantage if used where needed."
Their threshold for "needing one" is engines operating over 4500 RPM. I rarely, if ever, hit 5000 with a 400. I enjoy over 25PSI at idle and 70 over 2500 RPM or so. This is with a stock pump in a 8K mile engine built to the bottom number in the book. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I read about with new cams I will need a new dist. gear is this true?
Pistons does anyone know where I can get the 9.:1 for the 400 or 351C I want cast ones but seems to be all $25 a piece whereas my 350 I can get my hypertunic 383 pistons are $150 for all with teflon coated skirts why is it they cost so much or am I looking in the wrong places? anybody know a good place that has good prices?
Balancing does it need to be done for just a mild street engine?
best way to get all the dirt and grease off?
I have the super cooling radiator in it I pulled it out of my grandpas 78 f250 camper special think im going to just keep the stock water pump in there, good idea, bad idea?
Just seen something on my 500cfm 2bbl holley carb too theres no vacume ports on it except for the choke, this thing is usless isnt it?
Thanks for all the help guys
