flywheel?
Right now i've got a 86 f150 with a 302EFI with a 4spd tranny. I'm getting ready to do a motor swap to a 95 351W. I know most years/motor sizes have diff. wieghted flywheels. I was wondering before i got started if the flywheel from my 86 302 will interchange with the 95 351W or do i need to hunt down a flywheel from a newer model truck?

you need a Flywheel off of an pre 80's 302 or a 351w, the 86 flywheel will work but you'll have a major imbalance in the engine, i have that problem right now and I'm still trying to find a flywheel for it

Hey guys! Just some info... The flywheel and harmonic balancer have to weigh the same. That's the key to proper balancing. If you know the weight of the harmonic balance, have you flywheel weight added or reduced by your machine shop. Or if you don't have a shop, buy new. Theye are usually about 50ozs each. You might be able to find something at an auto salvage yard.

nope.... the crankshaft on a 351w is balanced to a 28 oz offset, if you install a harmonic and a flywheel with a 50 oz it will reduce the amount of vibration that you get but it won't get rid of it because of the weight offset still, you have to get a proper 28 oz Harmonic Balancer and Flywheel, trust me I'm still going through this problem, I changed the harmonic to the 302/ 50 oz and I still had a slight vibration, so I'm waiting for a proper 351w 28 oz flywheel, new ones are around $250 -350

Thanks guys, I knew I had to change the flywheel, But just wanted to double check so i didn't go get a new flywheel then learn I could of spent the $$ else where instead of on a flywheel i already had..

Hey Guys! I agree with i_alone, I was using the 50oz as a reference. (sorry not to mention that). I'm getting better at trying to provide info, without writing too much.
