OK here goes- I have an 87 B II 4x4, 2,9 V6, I've had drivability probs for the past 6-9 months now, with each of the following failing one at a time: MAP sensor, coolant temp sensor, dirty EGR connector, dirty air bypass, bad FPR. The past month or so, it's been missing badly, and the power dropped by 30 - 50%. Also, you couldn't touch the pass side floor without burning your hand. You can actually smell the under side of the carpet burning! Since the Cat is right under the pass side floorboard, I figured it's clogged. I just had back surgery, so I couldn't do any checking. Coming home from work the other day, the truck lost even more power, then started spraying oil (I think from the oil dipstick, cause the dip had risen far above the sleeve!) all over the driver's side engine and manifold, and spilling all over the ground. The oil light lit just as I turned into a gas station and put 4 qts in. I barely made it home, having to floor the gas just to get it in the drive way. Neighbor removed the dual cats, front was clogged, gutted it to test, now blue smoke out the tail and breather cap, still misses bad & really can't drive it! Time for a buriel??

It smokes steadily at idle, when I give it more gas in park it fills the neighborhood with blue smoke. Do you think it's erlated to the plugged CAT? Maybe pressure backed up n blew a seal?
Just goes to show you that you should fix a problem when it occurs. To continue driving it while you try to determine the problem is asking for trouble. You wouldn't drive it home with no oil would you? My old girlfriend would.
Yeah, I know what u mean, beefysb. It's one of those deals where after it's done, u get this sick feeling inside, and think "maybe I shoulda....". But, what's done is done... There's this shop I found not too far away that does nothing but engine swaps. They were closed Sat & Sun, but maybe I'll call Mon & see what he wants to do a swap. Other than that, just call me "smokey trail"! I really do appreciate the help u and Ken00 came back with. Thanks guys!
