Ok, so I dropped the tranny today in the 100. That went as expected...but as for the bell housing.....I can't seem to get it off. I took out all the bolts I could find, except for the ones holding the starter in place. Do they need to come off too? Or is there some bolt hiding somewhere? I have the shop manual, and read several times before-hand. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks guys!!
Take the starter off and I think your problem will be solved. There is a thin plate behind the flywheel that is sandwiched between the block and bellhousing. Good luck
It looks like the truck in you gallery has a y-block. My y-block has the motor that bolts to the bellhousing and the tranny bolts to that but, my rear motor mount are where the bellhousing bolta to frame. Are you doing this with motor in truck or did you pull them? My y-block has the front mount that bolts to timing cover and the rear one is the bellhousing. PLEASE see if yours is like this. if so bolt bellhousing back up and use picker to support motor. Maybe I'm missing something but if the motor is still in truck please check. If you pulled motor and trans then disrecard this reply. Kurt y-blocks rule!
No, the motor is in the truck but I have it supported. I saw where the bell housing was supporting the motor. I'm going to pull the starter this afternoon and see what happens then. I'll let y'all know how it goes. Thanks for the input.
